All cold-formable metals are suitable for cutting-press drawing.

The procedure is used for manufacturing parts. It resembles shearing around a closed outline.

Different terms are used:

• Cutting, to obtain an edge according to a precise shape and specific measurements.

• Stamping, to open a piece (perforation, for example). Press drawing is a manufacturing technique used to make an object with a non-developable shape from a flat, thin sheet of metal.

The sheet metal is called a “blank”, meaning it has not yet been pressed.
